Terms

Short, because the site does very little on your behalf: it runs a game you already own, on your own machine.

Your copy, your responsibility

You play from your own copy of a game, and you are responsible for having the right to the files you open. The site cannot check this: your files are read in your browser and never sent to us.

Fair use of the site

Do not:

  • attack or overload the site;
  • use it to distribute game files to other people;
  • present a copy of this site as the official one, or suggest that the project is affiliated with or endorsed by any rights holder of the games;
  • remove the attributions and licence notices when reusing any part of it.

Licences

The emulator is free software under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3, and its source is public at github.com/amberfolio/amberfolio (opens in a new tab). Every page that runs it links to the exact source it was built from.

The website around the emulator is separate, proprietary work. The emulator’s copyright holder has granted this site a written exception to the licence’s network-service condition so the two can sit together. That exception does not waive the link to the source, and it grants nothing over other people’s contributions to the emulator. The licences page has the details.

No warranty

The site and the emulator are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind. Nobody promises that it will run your copy of a game, that it will run it correctly, or that the site will be available when you want it.

Limits of responsibility

To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of the site. In particular, saved games kept in your browser can be cleared by the browser without warning, so keep your own copies of anything you would be sorry to lose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

Amber Folio is operated from the United States. Nothing on this page removes a right you hold under the consumer law of the country you live in.
